Long list of qualifications: Dr Poobie Pillay celebrates his doctorate
Poobie Pillay, who was born in Durban and who now resides in Johannesburg, was awarded a Doctorate of Technologiae Degree (DTech) in Business Logistics on 5 April.
This is just one more qualification that he can add to his impressive list of credentials. He already holds a National Diploma in Purchasing Management, a Bachelor of Technology degree in Logistics from the University of South Africa, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies as well as a Master’s of Business Administration from the Management College of South Africa. He has completed the Executive Programme at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and contributed a paper on Ethics and BEE that will be used in the MBA curriculum at Darden.
His thesis was titled: “An empirical exploration of supply chain constraints facing the construction industry in South Africa.”
With a vast knowledge of business and a clear passion for it, Mr Pillay has long played an active role in transformation within SA, especially with the training and development of emerging entrepreneurs.
He has successfully trained more than 2500 owners of micro-enterprises over the past few years and focuses mainly on alleviating unemployment in the rural areas of the country.
