How Council is Constituted

The Council of the Vaal University of Technology, as the highest decision-making body within the University, governs it in accordance with the Higher Education Act, Act No. 101 of 1997, and the Institutional Statute gazetted on 3 April 2013. The functions and duties of Council are clearly stated in the Act and the Statute and can be paraphrased as providing strategic and ethical leadership to ensure that the University remains a financially sustainable, well-managed, growing and going concern given to offering quality education and fostering a green environment philosophy.
