2nd International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (ICTERM) to be held in South Africa

International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (ICTERM) to be held in South Africa

26th to 30th of July 2017

“ICTERM Programme & Abstracts”

Co-hosted by VUT, TUT and Rice University

Following the huge success of the 1st International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine in South Africa which Prof Motaung organized in 2014, we are delighted to inform you that the Faculty of Applied and Computer Sciences at the Vaal University of Technology will be co-hosting the 2nd International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (ICTERM) with Prof. Keolebogile Motaung of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Science of the Tshwane University of Technology and Prof Antonios Mikos of Rice University, Houston, Texas from July 26-30, 2017, in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa. The theme for the conference is ‘The future of regenerative medicine in Africa’.

This Conference will also serve as a platform to launch the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) in Africa. Currently there is TERMIS- Europe, TERMIS-Asia and TERMIS-USA. It will be a great occasion to launch TERMIS-Africa.

The ICTERM aims to bring together distinguished clinicians and scientists from around the world who work in the following areas: stem cell tissue engineering, cartilage and bone tissue engineering and biomaterials tissue engineering. This will enhance the interaction between young aspiring scientists and students from academia and national laboratories. The talks will cover basic studies through translational efforts and clinical trials and will address novel topics. During the five-day conference, we will listen to well-known experts in the field as they discuss recent advances, challenges and breakthroughs in the field of tissue engineering. The conference will feature keynote addresses, a number of plenary sessions, invited talks and contributed lectures focusing on specific views of tissue engineering. Furthermore, there will be several poster sessions, and the two best poster presentations will be selected for an award.

We therefore request your active participation, and would appreciate if you could encourage your colleagues and fellow students/researchers to be a part of the conference. It is hoped that ICTERM 2017 will make a meaningful contribution to the existing knowledge base in this field and motivate talented young people to pursue the field of tissue engineering. We look forward to welcoming you at the conference and your cooperation would be instrumental in the success of this venture.

We are excited to inform you that the Faculty of Applied and Computer Sciences at the Vaal University of Technology will be co-hosting the 2nd International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (ICTERM) with Prof.

The International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine brings together distinguished clinicians and scientists from around the world, working in the following areas: stem cells, scaffolds and biomaterials, bone and cartilage tissue engineering, tissue repair and regeneration, conventional and alternative regenerative therapeutics, medical law and bio-ethics as well as regenerative medicine market and commercialization. This will enhance the interaction between young aspiring scientists, students from academia and national laboratories.

During the five-day conference, experts in the field of tissue regeneration and regenerative medicine will discuss recent advances, challenges and breakthroughs in the field of tissue engineering. The talks will cover basic science studies, clinical trials and translational efforts. Novel aspects of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine will also be showcased.

The conference will feature keynote addresses, plenary sessions and lectures focusing on different perspectives of tissue regeneration. The conference will showcase VUT and the Vaal region to the world and will serve as a platform for local researchers and students to initiate collaborative relationships within Africa and globally. It is hoped that ICTERM 2017 will make a meaningful contribution to the existing knowledge base in this field and motivate talented young people to pursue the field of tissue engineering. We look forward to welcoming you at the conference and your cooperation would be instrumental in the success of this venture.
