The Campus location and surroundings: Daveyton

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is a relatively large service delivery region in the Gauteng Province featuring several residential, commercial and industrial services in Kempton Park, Tembisa, Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan, Watvilee, Katlegong etc. It is also in Ekurhuleni Municipality that OR Tambo International Airport (Africa’s largest and busiest airport) is located together with the associated air-line and travel services (Cargo handling, passenger services, hotels, tourism, aircraft services). These key activities not only bring with them the need for housing, crime control, environmental impact assessment etc, but also high demand for a variety of skills training opportunities at different levels.

Ekurhuleni Satellite Campus is the only contact higher education institution in the municipality with excellent prospects for offering training at degree, diploma, certificate and especially short course levels. The decision of the VUT Council to mandate the Campus to focus on ICT and related programmes represents a positive insight into the features and needs of Ekurhuleni Municipality as a whole.
