Co-operative Education Department plays a role of securing work integrated learning (In-service) & graduate programs for VUT students. This is systematically done when a student submit an application form for placement accompanied by CV, motivational letter, Id copy, academic record and matric certificate; each student copy is kept on the data base in order to be used for company requests. The department advises Engineering and Applied Sciences student to submit their application once per semester whereas Management and Humanities students only submit once per year.
Co-operative Education Director Mrs. Annie Moletsane says “the need to develop work-ready graduates who can transfer the knowledge and skills from the lecture rooms to the workplace has become a key factor in higher education in South Africa’’. She also added that through partnerships that the university has with industries they’re able to secure placement for unemployed graduates. Not only does the department offer WIL opportunities but we have also managed to award 18 students with a bursary opportunity from Eskom. Our friendly service desk-consultants from the front office also play part to circulate advertisement for opportunities around the notice boards in order to create awareness.
