Research interests

His research interests are into computer vision, pattern recognition, computer image analysis, embedded systems, radio frequency identification, data security, neural networks, principal components analysis, genetic algorithms, machine learning, fuzzy logic, learning from data and neural computation.

Barnabas set for GCE O and GCE A Level of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate at Thekwane High School and Mzilikazi High School all in Matabeleland. Prof Gatsheni graduated with PhD degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Edinburgh in 2002 and an MSc degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham in 1994. Prof Gatsheni worked as a Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh for 9 months in 2000. Just after submitting his thesis in 2001, Prof Gatsheni was offer a Research Officer post at the University of Essex for 2 years (2001 -2003). In 2004 Prof Gatsheni joined Delphi Energy and Chassis Systems in Sudbury, Suffolk in England as a Quality Assessor up to 2006. Prof Gatsheni joined Vaal University of Technology as an Associate Professor in January 2007.  Prof Gatsheni has taught Digital Systems and embedded systems at NUST in Bulawayo.

Prof Gatsheni was awarded a scholarship in excess of 36000 British sterling (over 36 months)by the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering in Edinburgh to pursue studies leading to an award of a PhD in 2002. In 1994 he was awarded a staff development fellowship by NUST to pursue studies that lead to an award of MSc degree in Electronic Engineering
