CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION SERVICES
The Department of Co-operative Education provides services aimed at supporting quality teaching and learning at the Vaal University of Technology. Underpinning our aims is the skills development in our nation. We do this by providing the following services for the three role players in Co-operative Education, namely the students, industry and the Vaal University of Technology.
Student placements
We serve as a one stop career resource centre for students seeking WIL (Work Integrated Learning) opportunities that are relevant to their course of study. The department is geared up to assist students in their search for WIL opportunities by providing information through notices of information as provided by participating companies. We inform students of available work stations in industry, both for WIL and Graduate Placement in participating programmes. In this regard we extend our services to companies seeking access to our students and facilities with regard to temps, weekend and holiday work as well as permanent employment. Students submit their CV's and academic results to industry when requested. For this service contact Reception at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. WIL Registrations
This service is for students and companies who are already engaged in WIL, i.e. a student is employed in a complying company as a WIL student and has a contract for the duration as stipulated in the specific relevant course. Such a student must contact Mrs Carlen Dos Santos (016 950 9161). The student must pay the relevant WIL registration fee and also complete the specific registration form for his/her course. The student is required to submit with his/her registration form a letter from the company verifying that the student will undergo his/her training with the specific company. Upon submission of the form, proof of payment and letter the student will receive the necessary guidelines to enable him/her to start with the training. Company Presentations and Interviews
With this service, employers have access to our students by way of presentations on their company profiles, necessary required skills and to give students the opportunity to sample their career options. Employers are welcome to conduct interviews on campus during and as part of the appointment process. Interesting to know here is that the employer gives instructions to us on how they would like to facilitate the process, for example, if they would like us to contact their selected student candidates to inform them of interviews and presentations. Added to this free service of mutual benefit is the provision of free refreshments in our restaurants for visiting delegates as well as a tour of our state of the art facilities. Employer Organizations can contact Reception (016)950-9496 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Presentations are done from Monday to Thursday between 12:00 and 13:00. The following topics can be discussed, but companies are still allowed to include their own topics as well:
