CENTRE FOR ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Centre for academic development (CAD) houses the following departments which provide a support service to the academic section:

Department of Teaching & Learning: The department is responsible for the quality of teaching and learning by providing a support service to academic staff, orientation of new staff, upgrading of staff skills, new teaching methodologies, the improvement of staff qualifications and development of assessment procedures.

Department of Academic Development: The department is concerned with improving the learning experience of the student. It does this by providing support to staff regarding new, innovative and effective ways of reaching the student, extra curricular support through e-learning, and the improvement of students' understanding of the learning process.

Quality Promotion Unit (QPU): The department is responsible for the development of the quality assurance system, quality procedures, external cycles and the alignment of the institution with the requirements of the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC).

Department of Curriculum Development: The department has responsibility for the moduralisation of all programs, development in accordance with outcomes based principles, the registration of all existing and new programs and the development of new programs.
