On 10- 12 September 2008, approximately 1330 students obtained their hard earned and well deserved diplomas and/or degrees.  The spring graduation  ceremonies were coupled with conferring of the honorary doctorates to:
1. Advocate G. Bizos SC, Senior Advocate: Legal Services.
2. Archbishop W H N Ndungane, (former Anglican Church Archbishop) Executive Director: Historic Schools Restoration Project and founder of African Monitor

The spring graduations were graced by the presence of Dr Isak Steyl, the former Rector of VUT from 1971-1991 (then Vaal Triangle Technikon). He attended the second of the six sessions of the graduations on 10 September 2008 at 14H00.

Right - Mr S Fisher, IT Manager : Sasol Nitro (he was the guest speaker during the 10h00 graduation session on 10 September 2008) and Prof G  Zide: Deputy V.C, Institutional Support.

One of the guest speakers, Mr I Magidi, Manager : Magidi Argricultural Company gave an inspiring message  to the congregation. Above all he appealed to the Faculty of Management Sciences that it should make Science , Engineering and Technology part of local economic development initiatives, in which private sector , public sector and institutions of higher learning could work together to assists graduates in the development of key strategic economic and development alliances for small, medium and large scale investment in the region. This will enable graduates to demonstrate their capabilities and put the region on a global map.
