QUALIFICATIONS He studied for a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Durban Westville in Durban, which he completed in 1978. In1979 he completed a post-graduate higher diploma in education at the same University. In 1982/3 he completed a post graduate degree in Economics (B.Comm-Honours) and a post graduate degree in Accounting (B.Comm-Honours), both at the University of South Africa. In 1997 he completed a Masters degree through the University of Potchefstroom. He completed his PhD in 2003 at Vista University with a thesis titled " An investigation of cost management in tertiary institutions".
ACADEMIC ACTVITIES In addition to his work experience Prakash has varied experience in various aspects of educationally related matters, served his community in Tongaat in sports and civic matters. He has played and administered sports at all levels. He has been an executive member of SAFA-Southern Natal, and a former President of Natal High Schools Squash and Swimming Associations. Prakash has also done consulting work for a large number of firms. He holds a practicing professional qualification from the Institute of Commercial and Financial Accountants (CFA - SA) and a practicing professional qualification of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE - USA). He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Business Management (SA). He was also admitted as an International Associate of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 2005.

2001: A Keynote speaker on "Higher Education collaboration" at the 10th anniversary conference of the European Access Network in Glasgow, Scotland.
2002: The cost effect of planning graduate output rates at the 11th European Access Network conference in Prato, Italy.
2002: Using new cost technologies to manage higher education in South Africa at the 9th International Accounting and Auditing Educatiors in Research conference in Hong Kong.
In 2001 he published in England a chapter Collaboration - the past and the future for higher education in South Africa in a book title "Collaboration to Widen Participation in Higher Education"
