Students preparing food for the El Shaddai children

On 28 July, the Vaal University of Technology Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park, under its VUT-Sasol Entrepreneurship programme, visited the EI Shaddai Hae Mona Children’s Home.
This was as part of the community project pillar of the programme. The other two are work experience and class time.
The students spent the whole day at the home. They cleaned the premises, revamped the garden and also entertained the 40 orphans with games and a short drama for encouragement and motivation.
Ms Sylvia Rathebe: Project Manager and Ms Siphokazi Zondi: Technician, were pleased to have organised such a successful event that left the children with a smile and hope for a better future.
“It was such an emotional experience and I’m glad that we left behind a good example of how wonderful the world can be if you keep dreaming and working hard,” said Ms Rathebe.
To top it all off, the students also had a braai and cooked for the children. This was made possible through donations.
