Mr Tiyani Mavunda; Learning and Talent Development Specialist at ARMSOR
Eleven fortunate bursary beneficiaries were given the opportunity to thank their sponsors and find out more about the programme last week. Six (6) of the beneficiaries are living with disability.
Two representatives from the Armaments Corporation of South Africa (ARMSCOR), Mr Tiyani Mabunda, who is the Learning and Talent Development Specialist, and Mr Obakeng Montsho, the Grants and Bursaries Manager, paid a visit to the Vaal University of Technology on 25 August.
The purpose of the visit was to orientate bursary holders with the bursaries, how the process works, how to access the funds and to emphasise the roles these students are expected to play.
The visitors also wished to identify any neglected needs to ensure they are sensitive to students living with disabilities.
“ARMSCOR works closely with the university to facilitate the students’ performances and, in cases where the students are encountering problems, they are able to intervene and provide ongoing counselling for their bursary holders,” said Mr Mabunda.
An overview of the company and its partners was shared by the two representatives. The students were also given the opportunity to ask questions and raise their concerns and challenges.
