Nqobile Mdlalose, a mother to a young boy named Yamkela, the first child of a single parent, Ms. Real Sibiya, today graduated with a National Diploma in Human Resource Management. Nqobile said that above all other things, she’s dedicating her diploma to her mother.
She said that her mother is her pillar of strength through thick and thin and she has been very supportive as she started with her first year journey. “When I first arrived at VUT, it was difficult as my mother was injured, she couldn’t walk and I was waiting for acceptance but she managed to assist me to register. I wouldn’t have done it without her,” said Nqobile sharing her smile.
She thanked her mother and VUT for being a ‘great university to study at’, as she said and that she had a wonderful time to study. Nqobile conveyed a message to students saying that when they come to university, they should always remember the reason they are here and maintain a balance between studies and a social life.
Her mother Ms. Sibiya said that she is excited that her first born child is graduating. She said “I struggled a lot with my daughter, she makes mistakes like every child but today she proved to me that she wants to be an achiever in her life.”
