Miss Tertiary 2nd Princess: Miss Naledi Nkosi
Dieketseng Motsepe
Miss Naledi Nkosi, a third-year Legal Assistant student took a chance and entered the Miss Tertiary beauty pageant… and ended up with the title of second princess.
The pageant was open to young women of all types to enter and make a difference. The judging process was lengthy and began long before the awards evening. The contestants had to partake in charity work, be involved on social media as well as try to raise funds for different causes and get people on board.
For her charity work, Naledi involved a lot of her friends from high school and university. They tried to get study guides for learners who cannot afford them and through this initiative collected over 60 books and distributed them to three high schools in Sharpeville, namely: Mahareng, Thuto Lore and Lebohang Secondary School.
The experience for her has proved to be a rewarding one, even though it has taken a lot of work. Along with her fellow winners, Naledi wants to launch a library at a school, which is to be chosen in April next year. In the mean time she is very busy collecting books.
Her advice to young females who are looking to enter the competition is to believe in themselves and not to wait for people to validate them. “You need to trust yourself and what you have to offer besides your looks… People are not only looking at your physical appearance, but what you have to offer,” she said.
