Enactus is a non-profit international organisation and a social enterprise that comprises a global community of students, academics and business leaders. Its main objective is to harness the power of entrepreneurial action to empower communities and make a lasting difference in the world we live in. It is dedicated to motivating students to realise the sustainable development of society, the economy and environment through entrepreneurial endeavour.
The Enactus-VUT team has been selected as finalists for the 2020 Harmony Local Economic Development (LED) challenge with five other institutions of higher learning. The Enactus-VUT team entered the challenge through the Intsika Project.
Intsika is a project that focuses on developing local farmers through various skills of business management, relevant agricultural knowledge and establishing beneficial skills for those farms using technological systems.
“Enactus-VUT team is working tirelessly despite the threat of Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic… They link up with likeminded students who care about their communities and work to make a difference by creating and developing innovative solutions” said Ms Onica Matsheke the teams Faculty Adviser and an Entrepreneurship Lecturer in the Logistics Department: Faculty of Management Sciences.
