    Strong Pioneered spirit, Thapelo Kgakatsi awarded for his relentless ‘smart’ work

    Hailing from a small town called Zeerust, in the Northwest; Mr. Thapelo Kgakatsi: Projects Administrator in the Centre for Health Education and Development (CHED) department at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) entered the National Association for Office Professionals of South Africa (OPSA) Awards, and was nominated as one of the four finalists at the National Level.

    He regards himself as a creative person, with a strong pioneering spirit, and leadership qualities. In addition, he is a versatile team player with the attitude of motivating and inspiring others. Moreover, he describes himself as a self-driven individual with impeccable management, administrative, personal, and social skills. One who is passionate about winning, developing, mentoring, and empowering others through sharing of skills and knowledge whilst serving with delicacy and honesty. Mr. Kgakatsi readily accepts new challenges while aiding with collegiality, diversity, respect, and innovation; which is what he values most.

    He was nominated for the award by his ex-colleagues, managers, acquaintances from both private and public sectors. The quality of his work and the relations with people, all who nominated him saw it fit that he be recognized and rewarded for the efforts he puts into individual, organisational, and company development.

    Receiving such a high-profile award has made him proud of who he has become, and it has also fuelled his desire to be more and achieve more as a self-driven individual. His unique approach for the award entailed developing new support programmes and systems for organisational and personal development as well as developing young people and professionals, sharing and imparting knowledge is what drives him to make a change.

    He encourages his colleagues to partake in such awards; “Legacy is not what you leave with people but what you leave within an individual, remembering, therefore that, ambitions without knowledge is like a boat on dry land” – TMMK, He said. Work smart in all you do than working hard.”

    Mr. Kgakatsi is delighted to have been recognized for such a prestigious award. This has incited him to learn more, do more, expose himself more, and be acquainted with more skills through all adversities.
