    “Studying at VUT has opened doors for me to be employable” says Progress Mpangane

    Mr Progress Mpangane is a Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Alumnus and a Senior Stakeholder Relations at the North West University. He is responsible for promoting and profiling the NWU brand through corporate events. “I am responsible for organising the NWU Vice Chancellor’s dinners in Potchefstroom, Mafikeng, Vanderbijlpark, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban and organise Vice Chancellor’s campus walkabout at Potchefstroom, Mafikeng and Vanderbijlpark. Lastly, I organise Industry workshops and dinners, inviting employers and potential employers and these workshops are held in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town” he said.

    He holds a Baccalareus Technologiae in Public Relations Management from VUT. His studies have prepared him for the reality of the corporate world and boosted his confidence to work in different organisations without doubting his qualification and knowledge gained. He believes that his educational expectations were fulfilled by studying at VUT as he is employed in a society whereby employment is a hustle to secure. Studying in VUT has opened doors for him to be employable.

    He was referred to VUT by his brother who studied Photography, “he convinced me to come and study here saying that VUT is the best university and with my qualification, I will be employable after graduating” he added.

    He elaborated that “it can take him the whole day to outline his experiences at VUT. I had the best of my life as a PR student, radical student activist and as an employee attached to the Cooperative Education. My life cannot be complete without mentioning VUT… I cannot say much about the Vaal Triangle Technikon (VTT).  I can say that, VUT now is the future with a clear vision to become a leading provider of innovative research and cutting-edge NDT education in Africa”.

    He further mentioned that there is a lot that needs to be changed and the current Administrator is working on bringing change. He also mentioned that any activity which needs PR skills, he is available to plough back to his Alma Mater. He believes that successful VUT former students needs to keep contact with the institution as they are the link between the corporate world and the university.

    Inconclusion he said: “VUT my Alma Mater, has prepared me to compete for employment with other graduates from other universities and yes, I rate VUT the best university”.
