Thobekani Lose, a student from the Faculty of Management Sciences obtained a Doctorate Technologiae in Business while one of the VUT staff members, Avitha Sooful also graduated with a Doctorate Technologiae in Fine Art from the Faculty of Human Sciences during the Spring Graduations at Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
“Your surroundings determine your future,” said Thobekani.
Successful students know what kind of study environment works best for them, whether they need complete silence, or a little background noise, said Thobekani who had to figure out where and when you study best and make a commitment to that study style. Good attitude and self-belief is what also drove him every day to strive for the best. It is vital to schedule your time effectively and make sure you adhere to those commitments, he said.
“It takes time to get adjusted to your schedule and a new routine. It’s normal to struggle, but don’t forget to ask for help. Therefore, students should take the responsibility upon themselves to manage their time efficiently and endeavour to be a better person one day,” he said, adding: “With this qualification I now have responsibility.”
