Ms Itumeleng Katali, a young, humble and vision-driven student added a feather to her cap with a Baccalaureus Technologiae in Information Technology – Cum Laude – and winning the Vice-Chancellor’s award for her efforts!
She said: “I have always aspired to get such an achievement. It made me realise that hard work really pays off and I could actually give back to my mom as she’s the queen that gave me life.”
The Vice-Chancellor’s award is given to students who have obtained the highest average in their faculty for the National Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Baccalaureus Technologiae or Magister Technologiae.
“I cannot lie and say this has been an easy road, but looking back from where I come from, I aspire to rewrite the history and to break the norms, one needs to be strategic about such things and always consult with those who have more wisdom and knowledge than you,” said Ms Katali. In conclusion she said that she is honoured to receive this award and very grateful for the support she got from her peers and lecturers as well as her mother who has always been there from day one. “If you know the direction on which you want to base your life, then follow it and never move with the crowd,” she concluded.
