The recipe to a Cumlaude is to study

Originally from the East Rand in Tsakane, Nonhlanhla Gladness Mahlangu obtained her Advanced Diploma qualification in Mediation under the faculty of Human Sciences at the Vaal University of Technology during the 2021 summer graduations. She did not only obtain the qualification, but she went above and beyond to secure herself a Cum Laude. Her journey with the institution began in 2013, where she registered for a diploma in Legal assistance and later furthered her studies in Mediation.

She narrates student life as the best experience though she highlighted roommate drama as one of the obstacles she had to overcome and she believes it is important for one to acquire relevant interpersonal communication skills to deal with various types of people and situations so that residential life can be more fun and productive. Her partner and God became her biggest motivation in sailing through her academic journey.

The cheerful Nonhlanhla is currently employed at a non-profit, non-political, non-partisan and non-religious denomination organization based in the East Rand. Their primary responsibilities include assisting their members in applying to institutes of higher learning, learnerships, scholarships, bursary funding, and the NSFAS. They give students, interns, and graduates opportunities for development and skill acquisition in a variety of sectors, where they can also use numerous humanitarian platforms for experiential learning under the guidance and supervision of registered experts working in the organization. While she assists others in obtaining education, she is also leading by example.

“Applying immense hard work and focus will obtain you a Cum Laude. Just study, study, study!” She says
