The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Ekhurhuleni graduations were held at the Vanderbijlpark campus on 16 April. Ludick Petunia Tsholofelo was the only student who received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award in Faculty of Applied and Computer Sciences.
Ms Tsholofelo obtained a Baccalaureus Technologiae (B-Tech) in Information Technology, Cum Laude. The jubilant graduate could not contain her excitement as she expressed what it took for her to get there: “2018 was exasperating because I was pregnant, I had to work and on top of that I had to ensure my studies were not slacking,” she said.
“Through all the hard work and extra hours I put in, I knew I deserved these achievements. It’s imperative to manage time, as I was able to be a mother, student and an employee as the same time,” she added.
“Students should not be afraid to seek for guidance and mentorship from their lecturers when they are facing difficulties. As they often say, your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success; never let go of what can make you a better person.”
