The Vaal University of Technology, Emfuleni Municipality and delegates from the Chinese Municipality sat on the 13 October at the VUT Vanderbijlpark Campus to share and discuss matters that will contribute in the advancement of the university and the Emfuleni community at large.
Building Solid Ties With The Emfuleni Municipality And Chinese Government
The Vaal University of Technology, Emfuleni Municipality and delegates from the Chinese Municipality sat on the 13 October at the VUT Vanderbijlpark Campus to share and discuss matters that will contribute in the advancement of the university and the Emfuleni community at large.
Prof Kuzvinetsa Dzvimbo: Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Research said the guests are most welcomed at VUT which is now 50 years old and regarded as one of the best of six Universities of Technology in the country, with a main focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These being the skills needed to boost the economy of the country, with other faculties like Management and Human Sciences also contributing immensely.
Sibusiso Biyela from the Emfuleni Municipality said: “I hope with this visit the university will take advantage of and tap into the Chinese resources to uplift the country and take it to new heights. The Emfuleni Municipality regards VUT as a legal part of it and both working together for the benefit of the community and youth providing platforms for students and staff to engage and form partnerships.”
Mr Yunus Chamda, Municipal Manager in China said they are very happy to be at VUT. Their role is to develop information technology for the Chinese State, provide support, help the country in operational levels and provide strategic advice. “There’s big changes worldwide and societies have moved from being industrial societies to information based societies and I believe with these big changes each one of us is a student and can learn from each other”, he said.
The Chinese delegates showed much interest on entrepreneurship offered at the VUT Southern Gauteng Science Park, e- learning courses and the intended renewable energy power plant, they have agreed to reach out to manufacturers and all the relevant platforms for assistance.
Dr Robert Martin: VUT Executive Director Strategic Alliances expressed gratitude to the Chinese, Emfuleni delegates and colleagues, assuring them that VUT has the resources to make the engagements work and will strive to build and strengthen the relationship for the mutual benefit of all.
