In honour of International Nelson Mandela Day, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) students and staff embarked on a cleaning campaign of the campus, residences and surrounding areas.

VUT’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal; Professor Gordon Zide, who attended the event, said: “I am in fact humbled by this positive gesture… today is a special day where we have to go out, clean our campus and make sure that VUT remains one of the best campuses.”

He also mentioned that staff and students had gathered, not in terms of their statuses, race or gender, but as Africans and human beings. This makes us totally different from other universities. VUT continues to make a difference because of staff, students and everybody.”
