On Thursday, 16 March 2023, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) E-Skills CoLab, in collaboration with the Northern Cape Department of Social Development, the Human Capital Learning Solutions (HCLS) and partners, hosted the E-Skills Certificate Ceremony in Kuruman, Northern Cape.

During the ceremony, a total of 74 young people selected from Kimberley, Kuruman and Prieska for a special training programme in telecommunications, were awarded certificates in business and technical skills such as cellphone repairs and DTT (installation of satellite dish).

Today’s cohort is one of the many contributions by VUT E-Skills CoLab which has, over the years been playing its part to equip communities with 4IR-related programmes. Graduates included mostly unemployed youth who are interested in gaining skills and are aspirant entrepreneurs.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from numerous stakeholders, including the National Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT), National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA), the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BANKSETA) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).
