THE DVC: ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH LEAVING THE EMPLOY OF THE UNIVERSITY ON 22 NOVEMBER 2018 It is heart-breaking that I have to announce the imminent departure of Professor K.P. Dzvimbo, our Deputy Vice-chancellor: Academic and Research, who has been appointed as the CEO of the Zimbabwe Council on Higher Education (ZIMCHE), with effect from 1 December 2018. Professor Dzvimbo leaves the Vaal University of Technology at a time when his services are needed the most as he had and continues to steer the Academic Portfolio in the right Strategic Direction. It will indeed be difficult to find a replacement whose vision will resonate with his. What is comforting though is that he is not entirely leaving the Higher Education Sector, albeit moving to another Country - the Landscape remains the same. Prof Dzvimbo will be dearly missed by all of us - staff and students and we accordingly wish him well in his new career. Warm regards, Professor Gordon N Zide (PhD) Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Emeritus (Anthropology) UNISA Date: 18 October 2018 Leave a message for Prof Dzvimbo below... #VUTProfDzvimbo ... MESSAGE OF SUPPORT TO MATRICULANTS AS THEY SIT FOR FINAL YEAR EXAMINATIONS It is that time of the year during which we all pray and wish the Matriculants everything of the best for their examinations. The Educators have done their bit and it is now up to the Learners to demonstrate that the efforts of their Educators will bear positive results. We are aware that in many instances the 2018 Academic Year has been filled with many challenges and such challenges have in fact been the very impetus and the drivers of our success. The poor backgrounds of many Matriculants should not in any way determine their future. Never be held bondage to the historical past – shape your future by working hard and realise that it is only through education that the future can be made brighter for all. As you are now sitting for your final year examinations, there are many choices facing you in terms of pursuing your studies – you can go to: Traditional or Comprehensive or Universities of Technology or you could even consider going to TVET Colleges. The choice is wide and TVET Colleges provide and ensure immediate job opportunities after completion of your studies and it is in this regard that the fulfilment of the Post School Education comes to light. Never allow nay – sayers to stand in your way. The future without education is bleak and dim. Get that education whilst time is on your side. Our Country is desperately in need, not only of educated people but equally of ethical leadership. It is through education that our Country can be recognised, as one of the best, not only in the Continent but equally so, in the whole world. Getting that Matric Certificate assures you of a stepping stone into the brighter future. Whilst we all pray for the success of the Grade 12 candidates, we are nonetheless painfully aware that there are those who may not make it and to such candidates, we want to make a special appeal as early as now NEVER TO COMMIT SUICIDE, just because one has failed. Failure gives you an opportunity to polish up your work for the next examinations. No matter what plans you may have had which have now been thwarted by your inability to make it through Matric DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF to the extent of Committing Suicide!! Failure should not be considered as the end of the world. Trying again will ensure that you get the fulfilment of your dreams and will make your family and the Country happy. NEVER Give-Up!!! The above having been said, at the Vaal University of Technology, we wish the Matric Class of 2018, all the best with its Examinations and accordingly asking you to consider VUT as your number one choice University for 2019. Good Luck and Write Well! Professor Gordon N Zide (PhD) Vice-Chancellor and Principal #FinalExams #Martic2018 #yourworldtoabetterfuture #maVUTi #ProudlyVUT ... See more
Phumi Modau and Frans Pale, final year HRM diploma students was elected to serve on the first SA Board for People Practice (SABPP) HR Youth Council which was launched on the 31st of August 2018. Phumi is responsible for risk and quality management while Frans will be involved in research projects. The reasoning behind the launch of the Council was to give the youth as future HR professionals a voice in preparing the HR profession for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. According to Dr Pierre Joubert, HOD: HRM, the Youth Council will serve as the mini-board of the SABPP which will act as advisory body to the Board, generate new ideas for the profession, assist student chapters with achievement of their goals, create national awareness of the profession, standardise student chapter activities and promote collaboration between universities, develop leaders, promote HR citizenry, create alliances that advance the interests of the youth and ensure progression of HR Students. #VUTHRstudents SABPP #maVUTi #ProudlyVUT Department Human Resource Management VUT #DrJoubert #VUTStudents ...
