The Vaal University of Technology Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park’s Netball and Soccer teams held a tournament in aid of cancer awareness at the VUT Isak Steyl Stadium on 27 October.

They played with other teams from Sedibeng College, The Department of Health, the Department of Traffic and the Oprah Winfrey Academy.

The event was about raising awareness about cancer in the Vaal Community, but it was also about building friendships and moral support among staff members working in institutions involved in community development.

“One of VUT’s key roles is giving back to the community, bringing awareness and transferring knowledge to the community at large. So, as netball players we saw fit to have this tournament and raise cancer awareness,” said Ms Machabaku Sekhoto: Neball Team Chairperson.

The day was filled with excitement and cheering as players went head to head to score for their teams and win games.

The event was made possible by the VUT Science Park Management, the Employee Wellness Office and the Safety department.
