The VUT Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park (VUT SGSTP) Community Forum was established in September 2018 for the purpose of establishing a fully functional channel of communication with the residents of Sebokeng, Ward 17, through their respective community representatives. The forum meets monthly and meetings are chaired by Ms Kediemetse Mokotsi, Director: Marketing and Public Relations, Corporate Affairs.
The forum focuses on VUT’s capital projects that are earmarked for the development of the science park to ensure compliance with 30% local content of the tender process. On the other hand, the VUT SGSTP assists the community representatives with basic business skills to empower them. Another feather in the cap of the forum is that it serves as a vehicle through which the Gauteng Provincial government and other funders could channel funding earmarked for the upliftment of the lives of the communities in Sebokeng.
