New VC hits the ground running
09 February 2024
On 1 February 2024, VUT welcomed its new Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Stephen Khehla Ndlovu who will steer the ship for the next five years. Since his arrival, Prof Ndlovu has convened a series of ‘Meet and Greet’ sessions with various University stakeholders as an essential component of his thorough approach to integrated stakeholder engagement.
This approach, he says, underscores his commitment to maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a collaborative environment, a sense of unity and shared purpose within the university community.
To date, Prof Ndlovu has met with the Management Committee (ManCom); representatives from the Institutional Forum (IF) and the Convocation; Executive Deans, along with staff of all four faculties; Student Representative Council (SRC); the leadership of the two labour unions recognised by the University, NTEU and NEHAWU. On 7 February at the Desmond Tutu Great Hall, the VC engaged in an open discussion with the support staff at the Vanderbijlpark campus followed by the Science Park the next day, where he was also taken on a tour of the campus. Today he will do a walkabout of the vanderbijlpark Campus.
This roadshow will conclude with One-on-One Portfolio Briefings with ManCom members, next week.
