The Vaal University of Technology’s Associate Professor, Professor Limo Rutto has been awarded the achievement of being the NRF Rated Researcher 2019. According to the VUT’s research website; NRF Rated Researchers are the bright minds that empower and propel the research within a given institution and a particular industry or field. The VUT NRF researchers aren’t only recognised in South Africa, as the nature and impact of their work contributes to their field of research internationally as well.
The role of the NRF rated researcher is to provide aspiring researchers access to the most experienced minds in a number of research fields as supervisors and aides. They become the supervisors to students that are studying towards their honours, Masters and PHD’s.
The VUT research website states that the NRF researchers at the VUT have dedicated years toward research and study within a particular field. With so much experience, NRF researchers are thought leaders and influencers in their respective industries. To become an NRF rated researcher one has to be evaluated by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. The foundation only takes into consideration the research that has been made within the last eight years and assesses the research’s standards, and the impact both locally and internationally. This ensures that South African researchers conduct research according to the highest international regulations, and matche the research conducted in other countries around the globe in quality.
