Applications for the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) 2023 intake are now open. Local and international students should submit online applications.


VUT is home to several students who hail from all provinces across South Africa and 22 African countries. The University boasts four (4) Faculties, namely:

·         Management Sciences,

·         Human Sciences,

·          Engineering and Technology, and

·          Applied and Computer Sciences.

VUT prides itself for the remarkable breakthroughs and achievements attained by each faculty over the years.  Prospective students may choose their dream career based on their skills, character, and interests.


At the undergraduate level, VUT offers diploma and advanced diploma programmes. This is to enable the vertical articulation of students to the doctoral level as follows: Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s Degree, and Doctoral Degree.

The university follows a blended approach (online and on-campus) to teaching and learning. The University prides itself in producing graduates who are employable nationally and internationally.

VUT students have access to free support services which help them to graduate within record time. While studying the students can acquire the necessary skills needed for the journey of work through Work Integrated Programmes (WIL). Computers are available in the University library and computer labs for students to work on.

Studying at university may put financial strain on many families, therefore students are encouraged to apply for financial aid and bursaries.  University life is also different from school life, students ought to be responsible enough to balance fun with academic success and extramural activities. Students may visit the University’s sport department for more information on different sporting codes that are offered. At the beginning of each year, students are welcomed to the University and orientated, through various support departments within the University so that they can cope with the new transition. The VUT Student Support Services department consists of Student Counselling and Support Services, Campus Clinic, Centre for Health Development, Protection Services, Alumni, Centre for Academic Development, Gold Fields Library – to name a few.
