VUT appoints new DVC for Teaching, Learning and Student Support Services
Professor Margaret Linington
VUT Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Margaret Linington (also known as Maggi) as our new DVC: Teaching, Learning and Student Support Services effectively on 01 April 2020.
Prof Linington obtained her BSc (Agric) and BSc (Agric) Honours specialising in Animal Physiology/Biochemistry and Biochemistry, respectively from the University of Stellenbosch and PhD Physiology from the University of Witwatersrand.
She comes to VUT with a distinguished career and experience where she previously worked for 11 years at the Animal Production Institute (ARC), 2 years at Medunsa and 21 years at UNISA (starting at Vista University). In 2004, Prof Linington became the first Director of the new school of agriculture and life sciences. In 2006, she was appointed as the Executive Dean of the College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences. Prof Maggi serves on national and international committees with respect to Agricultural education and training.
“My goal in life is to make a difference in Higher Education and especially serving at VUT will allow me to achieve that dream” she said. Her academic interests are indigenous animals (specifically Nguni cattle), and food security, the scholarship of teaching and learning and finally transformational teaching, learning and student success.
