Dr Narissa Ramdhani, Director of Resource Mobilisation, visited the UK recently to launch the VUT Funding Campaign, “Our Time has Come” as well as to brand the institution in London. She held meetings with many high-profile individuals with a view to securing their support for VUT, its development and growth.
The objectives of the visit are as follows:
- To develop funding and university partnerships;
- Preparations and support for the VUT at the Lord Mayor’s Residence;
- Launch and promotion of the VUT brand and Our Time has Come;
- Support for VUT activities in the UK from FTSE 100-listed companies; and
- Grow the “Friends of VUT”
Guests visited in the UK have offered support for VUT activities and projects, whereas the Office of the Lord Mayor has agreed to allow VUT to hold its branding and fundraising dinner at Mansion House in London. Dr Ramdhani said that she expects to fully realise the objectives of the visit.
“Most importantly, I will succeed in growing the VUT brand among funding stakeholders in the UK,” she said.
The current situation of the University being under administration did not faze prospective stakeholders as they viewed this as a South African problem not simply a VUT problem.
