The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) has had an illustrious history of producing national players year in and year out and this year proved to be no different. VUT’s softball players and technical team attended a national training camp in Kempton Park on July 22 – July 24.
Lucas Ledwaba, Tsatsi Tlhabanelo, Kiddo Melematja, coach Selekeng Nong and Phokoane Mapheto (Sport Officer) are part of the national team that will be heading to Argentina from 26 November to 04 December 2022 for the u/23 Men’s World Cup.
South Africa, which is number 10 in the world rankings, swept Kenya in a five-game series played at Crawford Stadium in Pretoria and clinched the only available spot for African nations in the inaugural u/23 Men’s Softball World Cup.
Attending the men’s senior World Cup in New Zealand on 26 November will be VUT’s Mandla Matshwenyane, Peter Manaka, Molokoane Legohla, Chepane Mankomori, George Hlanga, Thupudi Mogau and Phokoane Mapheto (Sport Officer).
The selected athletes and Sport Officer need a sponsorship of R10 000 each in order to attend the World Cup.
