The 2019 Vaal University of Technology (VUT), Student Representative Council (SRC) wished students the best of luck for their examinations in a gathering organised by the SRC and held at the Desmond Tutu Great Hall on 21 May.
“Considering the difficulties we encounter as students; we still remain hopeful that the tide in higher education will change for the better. I would like to applaud the students for taking the decision to chase their dreams. As we will be going to write the examinations, let’s study and pass to better the societies we all come from and break away from the bondage of poverty,” said Wandile Maluleke SRC president.
Given Tshabalala, SRC Academic Officer, highlighted the importance of remembering why students are at the institution and said: “The university environment can be very volatile and can make it difficult for one to adjust, but the most important reason we are here is to study and graduate in due season and it does not matter how long one takes as long as one day you will receive your certificate of honour. We are not the same and our journeys are certainly not the same, attend classes well and prepare well for the examinations.”
Closing the gathering on a good note, the SRC promised to provide meals for students during the examination period.
