Dr Joseph Molete: Executive Director at the Vaal University of Technology Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park held a seminar under the theme: Turning your ideas into profit, on 29 September.
This seminar, based on philosophies, motivations and belief, was a part of the staff and community development programmes that are held monthly by “Dr Joe”, as he is affectionately known.
He was introduced and welcomed by Ms Zanele Malindi, a 23-year-old from Sebokeng Zone 12. Ms Malindi is an alumnus of the VUT-Sasol Entrepreneurship Programme which is how she met her mentor, Dr Joe. She has since regularly attended his seminars.
She said that Dr Joe is a dreamer who never runs out of innovative ideas: “His life experiences and academics have set a platform for him to inspire and motivate. I saw a different side of myself and of life itself through his seminars and his coaching sessions. His seminars unleash the potential that has been stored and contained in one’s life for a long time, and one gets to realise what life has in store for them. If I were to keep anyone positive in my life, it would be Dr Joe.”
She says Dr Joe has inspired her and she wants to nourish the knowledge and skills she has acquired from him. “I know I am going to be one of the best young business owners and founder of a few foundations on the route of entrepreneurship. I do not see myself leaving this lane for anything else,” she said.
In his presentation, Dr Joe mentioned that people spend a lot of time on the wrong ideas. They need to know what their motivation triggers, know their net-worth and get their financials in order. He concluded his presentation with a famous Chinese proverb: “Teachers open the door. You enter by yourself”.
