Precious Mafunise a Vaal University of Technology (VUT) student who hails from Venda in Limpopo. She completed her matric at Thohoyandou Technical High School in 2014. She has completed her National Diploma and B-Tech: Marketing at VUT in the Vanderbijlpark campus. Currently she is doing her Post-graduate Diploma in Marketing at VUT.
She has qualified for the top 500 Gradstar award. The GradStar programme and Awards Ceremony is sponsored by DHL, Accenture, Fasken, ABSA, BP, BAT and Epiroc in partnership with NPO Golden Key, organised and developed by BlackBark Productions (creators of the Rising Star Awards). It also uses the judging expertise of FutureFit, which is designed to recognise the most employable students across the country and introduce them to future employers.
This opportunity came about when their Advertising Lecture Dr. Sharp shared a link to download the Gradstar app, as a student who is actively seeking for employment, Precious saw a great opportunity and downloaded the app and completed her details. “Weeks later there was a competition that we were all invited to participate in, I entered the competition,” said Precious.
As part of the requirements, students were required to answer few questions regarding being unemployed and how they would deal with situations at the workplace.
“I am proud and applaud myself for not letting this kind of opportunity pass by… to me, this gives me hope that one day, I will find employment as I was nominated as one of the 500 top students who are employable in the country” she said.
Precious is now waiting to complete a future fit assessment test which will place her in the top 100 employable graduates in the country.
VUT wishes Precious all the best of luck throughout the competition.
