The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Bachelor of Education (BEd) students and lecturers, based at the VUT’s Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park, have for the past six months been working on a project to help alleviate hunger in their residences.
The “One heart, One Spirit, No to Hunger” project is currently ensuring that 20 students who don’t have funding or income from home, do not go hungry. Every month the BEd lecturers and students show their commitment and willingness to assist by contributing essential products, but they have also partnered with Gift of Givers which has provided 150 food parcels in the first semester only thus far.
The team, who is also encouraging ubuntu among students, urges departments and anyone else within the VUT community to assist in any way they can. They can be contacted on 074 910 1176 Pasha Sekhukune / pashask8@gmail.com or 076 065 5404 Fortune Makhubela.
