VUT, through the Corporate Affairs Department, hosted the Marketing Advancements and Communication in Education (MACE) Regional Workshop for the first time on Friday, 24 May 2019 with the theme as merging minds – skills for TVET and Universities”, Flavious Mareka TVET ; Sedibeng and Tshwane South formed part of the workshop . The workshop usually precedes the Annual National Congress which normally takes place in November each year.

” One of the MACE presenters, Ms. Deborah Minors, Chairperson of MACE Central Region said that MACE is all about marketing advancement of communication in education and helps in leadership skills and networking for professionals who advance higher education in South Africa.
Amongst the presenters, were: Mr. Louis Jacobs and Ms. Annette Willemse from North West University (NW), winners of the 2018 MACE Excellence Awards. They shared their strategy on how to win the highly contested MACE Excellence Awards, using the example of the University communication flow chat. They believe that to achieve, you should know what you want to achieve and why.
In closing, the Vice – Chancellor and Principal Professor Gordon Zide congratulated Corporate Affairs on hosting and organising the event as he believes that without good communicators and good marketers, the University would fall apart. He further encouraged the department to enter the MACE Competitions and strive to be the best. “Being the best does not only rely on leadership, but leadership is not something you do for people but it’s something you do with people” said Prof Zide.
