Established on 1966, VUT now opens its new dawn of era with a new brand identity that was launched on Thursday, 07 October 2021 at the Vaal University of Technology’s Main Reception area (A-block).
The main essence of the event was to officially reveal what has been a new milestone for VUT. “A dream that started in 2016 has now become a reality,” said Ms Kediemetse Mokotsi, Director: Marketing and Public Relations in her welcoming address.
In her address, Professor Maggie Linington, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal stated that life is about change and it has brand marks in it. “The coat of arms might have represented who we were, but the new brand represents who we are and where we wish to go… this is a new brand story for the Vaal that started in 2016” she further mentioned. “We are at the centre of change at VUT and it has been a wonderful journey” she alluded.
In support of the new change, Dr Anneke Harmse: Senate Representative on the VUT Council said that this is a historic moment. “It is time to change. With change comes a lot of things and we acknowledge our history. It is time for a new logo, change and a new life… the new logo represents success, future and ambition.”
In closing and support of the new brand mark, Mr Jan Smith, iSRC for Housing & Catering expressed his appreciation for the effort that has been done and said that: “indeed change is needed and hopefully, the same change will reflect back inside campus and residences going forth because we cannot just have a cover-page but in the inside its not nice. Thank you, we needed this”.
