The Parliament Portfolio Committee on Higher Education, Science and Technology paid a visited the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) On Friday, 26 February 2021. This was the 4TH engagement between VUT and the Parliament Committee since the University was put under Administration in 2019. The purpose of the visit was to engage, gather experiences from everyone concerned, give support, advise and critic where necessary, while working with Professor Iron Rensburg: VUT Administrator, in ensuring that VUT does not get back to the same situation it was in before and to make sure that the administration period is a success.
“At times there is some degree of success after an institution has been under administration and some go back to the same situation, they were in prior the administration. We have decided to use VUT as a case study, so that after the end of the administration period, we may know which areas of the assessment needs more focus thus avoid universities from lapsing back to the same situation once again,” said Parliament Committee Chairperson: Minister Mapulane of the ANC.
