Spring Graduations: VUT makes a mark

Vaal University of Technology is celebrating Spring with graduation ceremonies of 1 264 graduates across all faculties. The number includes five Doctoral degrees and 16 Master’s degrees.

The Faculty of Engineering led with 517 graduates, followed by Management Sciences Faculty with 311 graduates. The Faculty of Applied and Computer Sciences produced 297 graduates while the Human Sciences Faculty produced 137.

Celebrating the fact that the VUT is contributing to South Africa’s economy by providing skilled future employees, Professor Irene Moutlana said: “The future is beckoning on you to make use of it. Get rid of the onslaught of poverty. Find your passion…do not let other people define you.”

The eight ceremonies created a vibrant atmosphere on campus as graduates were accompanied by parents, family members and peers.

VUT was also impressed to witness a growing number of staff members crossing the stage to receive Master’s and Doctoral degrees. It certainly boosts the confidence of the student community in their lecturers who are up skilling and remaining abreast with constantly changing trends in the corporate world.

Dr Aubrey Mokoena, Head of Department, who graduated with his PhD in Marketing said: “A leader is only a leader when he produces other leaders, who are much better than himself”

Congratulations to all graduates and welcome to our new VUT Alumni.
