Talent acquisition is rapidly becoming a challenge says Professor TJ Kamalanabhan, a visiting Professor from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, Chennai, who gave a public lecture on “Talent acquisition and management” at the Faculty of Management Sciences on 20 June.

“Talent acquisition as a purpose has become closely associated with Marketing and PR as well as Human Resources. Talent acquisition as a unique function and department is a relatively new development,” he said. Professor Kamalanabhan explained that in today’s context, talent plays a vital role in the organisation but identifying talent is a challenge, especially with the advances in technology taking over most operations.

It is clear that technology will play an important role in all aspects of organisations. In conclusion, he said that organisations should accept, become equipped and manage change.

Acknowledgements were given and the closing address was given by the Faculty’s Executive Dean: Professor Roy Dhurup.
