VUT hosts 1st Postdoctoral Research Fellow’s Symposium

The Research Directorate at Vaal University of Technology (VUT) hosted its first Postdoctoral Research Fellow’s symposium on the 5th September 2018. The aim of the symposium was to bring together Postdoctoral Fellows and researchers from all academic fields to present their latest research findings in order to promote intellectual collaboration amongst them. It was also held to create an interdisciplinary forum with the special emphasis on the strategic importance of postdoctoral fellowship in driving research at VUT.
Among the speakers was the Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Gordon Zide who said that this is a great opportunity to portray a positive image of the institution. Prof Zide said that we should continue to build a decent environment for our Postdoctoral Fellows so that they continue to keep on doing exceptional research work.
The purpose of the Symposium was outlined by the Director of the Research Directorate, Dr Speech Nelana, who stated that it is important for the institution to host more symposiums of this nature and he also acknowledged the immense contribution of the Postdoctoral Fellows to the research productivity of the institution.
The event was very informative and Postdoctoral Fellows who presented their research projects, were able to debate various topics with like-minded people.
