The Corporate Affairs team visited the newly appointed Municipal Manager of Vryburg and a Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Alumnus Mr Tshepo Bloom on Wednesday, 28 June 2017.
His potential to become what he is today was made possible by the then Vaal Triangle Technikon (now known as Vaal University of Technology) at the North West Campus in Klerksdorp. He holds a National Diploma in Human Resource Management and played active role in student leadership activities, which he believes contributed to his career and he is grateful for the opportunity.
His message to current students is: “The sky is the limit … only the best is good enough. It is only through dedication, corporation and determination that you will be able to achieve what you desire in life.”
The purpose of the visit was to reconnect top alumni achievers with the University through the alumni office as part of their strategic objective. In this way, both the University and the alumni will keep abreast of any developments in each area with possible support networks for student related initiatives and inputs into the strategic objectives of the institution. Mr Bloom would like the North West Chapter to be relaunched, but believes that politics should be avoided for the chapter to be successful. He is of the view that outside politics, the chapter will prosper in all the activities it partakes in.
Mr Bloom’s dream is to see VUT being recognised as the best governed institution of higher learning institution in South Africa and help that government to render better quality services to the community through capacity building programmes managed and funded by the LGSETA. His final words were that he hoped that the North West campus would be re-opened so that it could assist a lot of students who cannot afford to go to other institutions outside the North West Province.
